SHoP architects with ArchDaily

So I figured I would find something on SHoP since my last post involved their practice. Here they are with AD talking about the firm. Their office is based on a collaboration between all of the architects in the office...apparently there are no job titles in the office either. I really appreciate their multi-disciplinary approach to architecture.

Best quote from the video...."The worst thing that architecture can be is the manufacturing of the image of a building."

Description of the interview via ArchDaily...

Located in Lower Manhattan, SHoP was founded in 1996 by five partners Christopher Sharples, Coren Sharples, William Sharples, Kimberly Holden and Greg Pasquarelli. The practice has grown over the past ten years to an office of eigthy. Our educational and professional experience encompasses architecture, fine arts, structural engineering, finance and business management.

Modern vs. Romantic architecture

WHEW...been busy moving back to the great state of MISSOURI. I'm back on schedule now. Just rummaged around on the TED site and found this talk. I can't tell if he is making an argument here or not. Seems like he is favoring Shop  over Rockwell. Regardless he shows some pretty neat projects from Shop.

TED description

Reed Kroloff gives us a new lens for judging new architecture: is it modern, or is it romantic? Look for glorious images from two leading practices -- and a blistering critique of the 9/11 planning process.
