Jacques Herzog interview with VernissageTV
One of my favorite projects of Herzog and De Meuron is the switching station in Basel, Switzerland. A great example of how program and architecture can come together. The building houses sensitive electronic instruments and as such the architects had to design the building in a way that protects those instruments from any radio interference. The exterior of the switching station is clad in copper creating a Faraday shield which effectively eliminates any radio signals from entering the interior.
